Installing Ubuntu

The code that runs on a Windows or Apple computer is obfuscated, but Linux and FreeBSD have their code open for public review. This is called "Open Source". This does not mean that they are secure, but that it is harder to hide malicious code within them. I will start by teaching you to install Linux onto either a computer of your choice, or onto a USB drive for use on any compatible computer.

The particular flavor of Linux we will install is called "Ubuntu Desktop", which is excellent for beginners to Linux operating systems. If any Linux experts say otherwise, ignore them. There are too many options, so I'll lock it in for you.

Of particular interest to the author is "Chimera Linux", which in my opinion has a better stack. However, it is not released at time of writing and there's no telling if it'll actually be good. People in the Tech sphere are a contentious people. Stick to learning from one person at first, then you will understand enough to learn from multiple people and hear understand different arguments.
